Today we decided to postpone our IoT conference RIOT.
We planned to host RIOT in November of this year. However, as a lot of great events are happening in November and December and Thanksgiving in the US being the same week as we had scheduled RIOT, we heard from many people that they’d love to come but it simply wouldn’t fit their schedule.
This put us in the spot that on the one hand we had very positive feedback about the event and people interested (and paying) to attend. On the other hand key people couldn’t make it. We discussed this internally quite a bit and decided that we’d follow our credo of quality over quantity. We don’t want to organize just an “okay” event. Mediocrity is not enough.
We have communicated with all confirmed speakers and participants. Of course, everyone that has already purchased a ticket will receive a full reimbursement.
On the positive side: We now have more time to make RIOT an event that lives up to our standards: An event that we’d like to attend ourselves. Just as all our events.
In the next weeks we’ll fix and announce a new date for RIOT. Also we’ll organize several Campfires on IoT in several cities in the next months. Campfire is our small intimate meetup format.
If you are interested in hosting a Campfire in your city then please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you have any questions regarding RIOT or want to get involved early, get in touch with Robbie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
